Rapid Reaction: Central Michigan 72, Toledo 61


With the 72-61 win against Toledo, the Central Michigan women's basketball team extended its win streak to six games. 

Junior Cassie Breen led the Chippewas in scoring with 22 points.

After the first quarter CMU led Toledo 22-17. Breen led in scoring with six points in the first.

The first five minutes of the second quarter the Chippewas struggled shooting and had a five-minute scoreless drought. The drought ended with a Tinara Moore three and it put the Chippewas ahead 25-22.

At the end of the half the Chippewas took a three-point lead into the locker room up 29-26. Breen led the team in points with eight at halftime.

After the third quarter Toledo went into the fourth up 47-45 on CMU.

CMU tied it up on the first possession of the fourth and took the lead on the next possession.

Senior forward Jewel Cotton had a three-point play with 1:50 left in the fourth to put the Chippewas ahead 65-59. The following possession Breen hit a three to stretch the lead to nine. The Chippewas clinched the win with free throws..

The win gives the Chippewas their 20th win of the season and moves their record to 20-6 overall and 12-2 in the Mid-American Conference.

Next up for the Chippewas will be Northern Illinois on Wednesday Feb. 22 at 7:00 p.m. at McGuirk Arena.
