Cowboys owner Jerry Jones says Rush will not be waived

In Saturday night's preseason game against the Oakland Raiders, former CMU quarterback Cooper Rush threw 12-for-13, tallying 115 yards and two touchdowns for the Dallas Cowboys after coming on for Dak Prescott.

Rush is fighting for his chance to make the 53-man roster as an undrafted rookie.

His most recent performance has caught the eye of Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones.

"I'm very impressed," Jones told media after the game according to the team's website. "We won't be waiving him. I'll tell you that right now."

CMU's former star has 311 passing yards including five touchdowns in three preseason NFL games. Rush also appeared in the 2017 Hall of Fame Game against the Arizona Cardinals, logging nine completions for 87 yards and one touchdown.

NFL teams must submit their 53-man roster on September 3 by 4 p.m. ET.
