Basketball Head Coach Keno Davis talks to the media after the Maroon and Gold Scrimmage on Oct. 19 at McGuirk Arena.

On Thursday, the Central Michigan basketball team officially signed two players to head coach Keno Davis’ 2018-19 team.

The two players signed were forward Kevin Hamlet and guard P.J. Mitchell.

“They’re both extremely talented, and they also have a great basketball upside,” Davis said in a press release. “They’re willing to come in and work, help the team and also improve their own individual game.”

Hamlet spent last season at Polk State College in Florida before transferring to Mineral Area College in Missouri, where the 6-foot-7, 209-pound forward is playing the 2017-18 season. He averaged 8.4 points and 6.3 rebounds in 32 games at Polk State and was All-Suncoast Second Team.

Transfer guard Shawn Roundtree transferred from Mineral Area College this past offseason.

Mitchell played his freshman and sophomore year for Detroit Loyola, then made the switch to Detroit Edison before his junior year. The 2017-18 season will be his final high school season. He averaged 16.1 points, 7.3 assists, and 3.0 rebounds per game and was named All-City by the Detroit Public School League last season.

The two players will join CMU’s program for the 2018-19 season.
