Central Michigan University students and Mount Pleasant community members will have the chance to try authentic Anishinaabe cuisine at a Native American food tasting event, at 5 p.m. Monday Nov. 6 in the Bovee UC Rotunda.

The event is sponsored by the Native American Indigenous Student Organization (NAISO), Native American Programs, Student Budget Allocation Committee, Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Inc. and Sigma Kappa. It is a part of Native American Heritage Month, and has been an on and off annual event for decades.

Alexis Syrette, a member of NAISO, has created a menu for students and community members to try. Attendees can also look forward to a drum and dance performance by local pow wow singers and dancers from the Ziibiwing Cultural Center.

Admission is accepted in the form of donations of non-perishable food items and/or toiletry items.
