Cellist performs in Staples Family Concert Halls

The lights dimmed, a hush fell over the crowd and the crisp, clean notes of a cello filled the room, accompanied by short bursts of piano.

The Staples Family Concert Hall seating was almost full as James Fiste, associate professor of cello, performed recital. He was accompanied on piano by MiJung Trepanier.

“I enjoyed the third movement of the second piece. It was really nice,” Reed City freshman Sage Radtke said.

The performance consisted of four pieces with an intermission. During the first half of the recital, Fiste performed “Seven Variations” on theme to Mozart’s “Magic Flute” by Beethoven.

Fiste also performed “Introduction and Polonaise Brillante” on Cello and Piano, Op. 3 by Chopin.

As they began to play “Le Grand Tango” by Astor Piazzolla, the crowd went dead silent. The swirling, interconnected notes from both instruments captivated their attention.
