Three Mount Pleasant police officers are getting promoted this summer.

Following the retirement of three MPPD officers, Dave VanDyke, Brandon Bliss and Dale Hawks are getting promoted to Sergeant ranks.

VanDyke is set to replace Sarah Cuthbertson, beginning June 23. VanDyke has been an officer in Mount Pleasant for 22 years. He served as the Public Information Officer and an assistant team director for the Emergency Services Team.

Bliss will begin his new role this fall after Cary Murch retires. An officer in Mount Pleasant for 11 years, Bliss is in charge of activities for the Youth Services Unit, including Coneys for a Cause and the Youth Police Academy. He is also the onsite officer for Mount Pleasant Public Schools. Bliss currently serves as the president of the Police Officers Association of Michigan.
