Music students at Central Michigan University are performing opera and musical theater pieces this Saturday.

The school of music's Opera and Musical Theater Gala is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Oct. 26 in Staples Family Concert Hall.

Members of the voice area in the school of music and the Bachelor of Fine Arts program are performing in the event. Participants were required to audition to perform in the show.

"There are 14 students on the program presenting 15 different selections of both opera and musical theater," said music faculty member Amanda Pabyan. "This is a wonderful opportunity for students of CMU and the community members to hear our fantastic singers perform in a variety of musical genres."

The event is free and open to the public.
