Jim McElwain has added depth at the quarterback position.

Pearl River Community College quarterback John Keller announced his decision to transfer to Central Michigan on Thursday. He also played for Cincinnati in 2018.

Keller joins senior David Moore, redshirt sophomore George Pearson, redshirt freshman Daniel Richardson and true freshman Tyler Pape in the quarterback room for the 2020 season.

"Thank you to all who have supported me through this road," Keller wrote on Twitter. "Thank you to my family, coach (Austin) Appleby, coach (Charlie) Frye and Coach McElwain for this opportunity."

The 6-foot-1, 212-pound quarterback has three years of eligibility remaining and will be able to play immediately.

Keller did not play for Cincinnati as a true freshman before transferring to Pearl River (NJCAA) for the 2019 campaign. He threw one pass while rushing for 6 yards last season with the Wildcats.

From North Canton Hoover High School in Canton, Ohio, Keller's only Division I opportunity was a walk-on offer from the Bearcats.

Keller attended the same high school as Austin Appleby, a quality control coach for the Chippewas.
