CRIME LOG: CMUPD handles hit and runs, dumpster fire

The Central Michigan University Police Department responded to the following incidents between Sept. 27 and Oct. 8:  

Sept. 27

At 1:51 a.m., officers responded to a call that someone was driving the wrong way down Broomfield Street. When police stopped the suspect, it was clear that they were intoxicated behind the wheel. The suspect was a 20-year-old male, and they ended up arresting him. 

Oct. 2

At 8:43 a.m., police received a call informing a two-vehicle crash near East Campus Road and Preston Street. Vehicle one refused to yield to the stop sign and pulled out in front of vehicle two, causing a rear-end accident. Both parties are uninjured. 

Oct 7

At 12:54 p.m., CMUPD assisted a 77-year-old woman who fell near Preston Street. Police stayed with her until she received medical attention. No serious injuries occurred. 

Oct. 8

At 9:58 a.m., officers responded to a hit-and-run accident in Lot 6 at Central Michigan University. Someone called in to report damage to their vehicle. The 43-year-old suspect received an issue citation for failure to report a crash. 

Oct. 8

At 11:39 p.m., police received a call about a dumpster fire outside of Fabiano Hall. Initially, officers thought it was an arson case, but after further investigation, they learned that it was an accidental fire. No one was harmed.
