The Academic Senate meeting takes place on Nov. 11, 2025, in the French Auditorium on the Central Michigan University campus.

The Central Michigan University Academic Senate approved a change to the credit requirements for Honors students, as proposed by the Honors Council, at its meeting on Nov. 25.

The credits required for Honors students are to be changed from thirty credits total to twenty-four credits. The thirty-credit protocol that was previously in place had been crafted specifically for the students who had the Centralis scholarship. Now, however, that's not the case for the Honors program.

This change is being put into place to ease the course load of Honors students and to allow for more flexibility for students to be admitted into the Honors Program, said Patricia Williamson, director of the program.

"We are trying to grow the program to allow some of the positive outcomes from Honors to be spread throughout the student body," Williamson said.

This change is expected to go into effect at the start of the next academic year.
