Abdul El Sayed Visits Central Michigan University
Central Michigan University's Plachta Auditorium was packed with community members as Abdul El-Sayed, Michigan's democratic candidate for U.S. Senate, took the stage for a town hall in Mount Pleasant, Michigan, on Friday, Oct. 9, 2026. The CMU College Democrats, a Registered Student Organization, organized the event.
Throughout the night, El-Sayed touted several progressive campaign promises, including Medicare for all and getting money out of politics. The Senate hopeful also answered several questions from attendees, explaining his plans for data centers, higher education, and lowering the cost of living for Michiganders.
El-Sayed will face off against republican Mike Rogers in the Nov. 3 election in what has become one of the most highly anticipated races in the country.
