Baseball team avoids no-hitter in ninth; Dodridge throws complete game


CMU senior outfielder Billy Anderson broke up Stetson pitcher Kurt Schluter's no-hitter with a single in the ninth inning of CMU's 1-0 loss Wednesday in Orlando, Fla.

In a pitchers duel, CMU sophomore left-hander Rick Dodridge (0-1) was overshadowed despite pitching a complete game six-hitter. Dodridge walked three and struck out four.

CMU (4-4) had three other baserunners prior to Anderson's single. Anderson and sophomore first baseman Nate Theunissen walked earlier in the game. Senior infielder Ricky Clark was hit by a pitch prior to Anderson's single in the ninth inning.

The Chippewas, who lost to Butler 14-9 on Tuesday, play Long Island at 4 p.m. Friday in Orlando, Fla.
