Softball team wins final game of weekend against Radford


The CMU softball team scored three runs with two outs in the first inning to beat Radford Sunday in Clearwater, Fla.

It was all the team needed as it held on for a 3-2 win.

Senior center fielder Christina Novak walked and stole second to start the inning before the next two batters were retired. Sophomore shortstop Molly Coldren singled and advanced Novak to third before junior third baseman Amanda Patrick hit a two-RBI double and junior second baseman Brittini Merchant singled in another run.

Junior Kari Seddon (2-3) pitched a complete game, allowing three hits, five walks and two runs (one earned). She struck out six in the win.

CMU (3-6) plays Penn State at 3 p.m. Tuesday in Clearwater, Fla.
