Men's basketball will hold final intrasquad scrimmage Saturday
If you didn't get an early look at the 2012-13 men's basketball team last weekend, you'll have another opportunity Saturday when it holds a second intrasquad scrimmage.
Once again, the scrimmage is free and open to the public from 1-2:30 p.m. Saturday.
"We want to see hard work and improvement," head coach Keno Davis said. "It's an opportunity for the coaches, as well as some of our fans, to be able to see how much this team has improved in the last week."
Last weekend's scrimmage saw approximately 150 fans stop by McGuirk Arena to get a sneak peek at what's in store for the inaugural season of the Keno Davis era.
"We're trying to make the experience different with different interactions," Davis said. "Whether it's a meet the team one day or have me mic'd up for a scrimmage, just different opportunities each time before we open up McGuirk Arena will give those fans a different look each time they come back on how we run things."
Davis said following the previous scrimmage that there are 11 or 12 guys battling for a spot in the starting five.
With this being the final scrimmage before the Nov. 7 exhibition against Lake Superior State, it'll be pivotal for Davis when deciding who will start on the floor for Davis come November.
"You might see five completely different players by then, that wouldn't suprise me becauase we've been trying different combinations of players," Davis said. "We're trying to find the guys who start out well in games ... I'm not at any point right now to be able to be comfortable about who we'll put out there on Nov. 7"
