CMU journalism department to host Digital Discovery clinic for high school students

Central Michigan University's journalism department will host a two and a half day, digital-only clinic for high school students to learn more about jobs in the media on June 27-29.

The workshop will teach students how to create a digital news publication with stories, video and slideshows as well as teach them the latest techniques in production. They will work with journalism professors in the state-of-the-art Caponigro Lab located in Moore Hall.

Students will spend the two nights in the residence halls on campus. Room and board is $100 inclusive. Students should be prepared to bring their own spending money for incidentals as well.

To apply, students must be a high school junior or senior in good standing. They must write a 500-word essay on why they want to attend the clinic and how the experience could affect their future plans.

There are six more remaining spots in the program.

The deadline to apply for the workshop is June 23. Students can apply online at journalism.cmich.edu or email Ed Simpson at simps1e@cmich.edu for more information.
