Some of the state's most energetic and excitable young basketball hopefuls will make the trek to Central Michigan University for a boy's basketball camp this weekend.

Coach Keno Davis and members of the CMU men's basketball team are set to host the camp which runs Friday and Saturday for students in grades 7-12. The camp is also for prospects who are serious about the idea of playing college basketball.

Davis said the camp provides an unparalleled opportunity for his program.

"If you aren't paying attention to some of the talent that is out there, you are going to miss out on some opportunities," he said. "Things like this touch so many different areas. Recruiting, development etc. It is one of the best aspects of the off season."

The camp expects to see approximately 200 participants during the two-day clinic.

Featuring various basic hardwood drills, contests and games all designed to advance knowledge of the game, the clinic will also help these players get a better understanding of good sportsmanship and athletic ability.

Cost of admission is $199 for those who wish to stay in a CMU residence hall Friday night and $149 for commuters.

"For some, it will be a great chance for them to see the (residence halls) and experience this campus," Davis said.

Students can register by visiting cmubasketballcamp.com by midnight on Wednesday. Walk-ups will be accepted at the door from noon-1 p.m. on Friday.
