CMU officials, Faculty Association reach tentative agreement on five-year contract

Central Michigan University officials and the CMU Faculty Association have reached a tentative agreement on a new five-year contract.
Details of the contract have not been released per the bargaining process rules.
The FA represents about 700 tenured and tenure-track faculty at CMU.
"While I'm pleased that constructive approach both groups adopted yielded a tentative agreement in a timely manner, the tentative agreement has to be ratified before it goes into effect," said Joshua Smith, president of the FA and philosophy professor.
This is the last of the contract negotiations for 2014. The Police Officers Association of Michigan, which represent 15 officers at CMU, recently ratified a new contract.
The American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees has come to a tentative agreement as well. AFSCME represents 196 employees on campus, including custodians, groundskeepers and warehouse workers.
