Letter to the Editor: Volunteer at Hopewell Ranch to change lives

opinion

TO THE EDITOR:

You wouldn’t expect a small ranch in the middle of nowhere to create a powerful organization that changes the lives of many children and families for the better, but that’s just what Hopewell Ranch does.

Hopewell Ranch is dedicated to providing healing to people with autism and other conditions through a unique equine therapy. I had the opportunity to volunteer at Hopewell Ranch and witness the powerful experiences. Everyone should volunteer at Hopewell Ranch because it will enlighten them on different therapy methods and they will see lives changed. This organization is using social media for promotion and now more people are hearing about Hopewell Ranch. I urge you to spread the word of this organization’s amazing work.

Hopewell Ranch provides the perfect opportunity to watch and be a part of the healing of children and adults. Also, the coworkers help facilitate the restoration of hope for their future. As I volunteered for Hopewell Ranch, I found this organization is constantly giving everything it has into making this ranch the best that it can be. The founders, staff, and volunteers are busy with many everyday tasks. Even though they are constantly busy they all have an enthusiasm that’s contagious. They all work very hard because they believe in the importance of what they do.

As I spent my afternoon at Hopewell Ranch, one of the founders, Jodi Stuber, told me about a girl who’s life was changed through their work with horses. This girl was able to open up about her family situation by acting out scenes with horses in an arena. Through this experience she gained a better sense of her own self worth and was able to better express how she felt during certain family experiences. This story proved to me that this organization is making a difference in peoples lives. This organization is only able to change lives through the help of volunteers.

Volunteer work and public service is always in the back of everyone’s mind. With a story about such a powerful and admirable organization, readers would be urged to learn about what they can do to use this organization as a way to get involved in the community.
