Police are investigating a burglary that took place at Kaya Coffeehouse during the early morning hours of Aug. 20.

The Mount Pleasant Police Department responded to a call at 7:34 a.m. Police found the door was kicked in and an undisclosed amount of money was taken, said Public Information Officer Jeff Browne. Nothing else was taken.

Officers are still processing evidence found at the scene, which will then be sent to the crime lab. Browne said evidence can take up to eight months to process. Police are processing latent fingerprints found, but do not know if they belong to a suspect or to a Kaya employee. They are also looking into phone calls made from Kaya, as well as camera footage from surrounding businesses. No one was there at the time of the burglary.

There are no suspects at this time.
