Suspect arraigned on concealed weapon charge

Leon Gilliam, 21, was arraigned Sept. 23 on a charge of carrying a concealed weapon. 

A 21-year-old Saginaw man was arraigned Sept. 23 on a charge of carrying a concealed weapon.

The Mount Pleasant Police Department responded to a fight at the Mission Street Burger King at 2:45 a.m. Dispatch updated the responding officers that one of the suspects had a handgun. Leon Gilliam, the man possessing the gun, attempted to flee the scene in a car.

Gilliam's car was stopped at the intersection of Broomfield and Mission streets. Officers conducted a search of the vehicle and recovered the gun and plastic holster, as well as a magazine with 13 rounds. Gilliam admitted to possessing the gun. Two other passenger's in Gilliam's car were arrested for probation violations out of Saginaw. 

Police took Gilliam into custody and he was at Isabella County Jail. At his arraignment, bond was set at $2,500 cash.
