For the third consecutive year, Central Michigan Life has been named the College Media Company of the Year at the College Media Business and Advertising Managers (CMBAM) convention.

The CMBAM convention serves to assist students and advisers within the business and sales departments of college media companies. More than 115 universities and colleges around the nation are invited to participate in CMBAM’s premier national awards competition for excellence in business and advertising operations; the prestigious award presentation is the culmination of each year’s conference.

CM Life placed in 24 of the 44 categories — taking first place in eight categories. The title of College Media Company of the Year is earned through placement in each category. The University Daily Kansan (University of Kansas) placed second and The State News (Michigan State University) placed third in this year’s competition.

“The annual CMBAM competition is an opportunity for our team to showcase their advertising, marketing and public relations efforts from the previous calendar year,” said Assistant Director of CMU Student Publications Kathy Simon. “It is rewarding for our students to be recognized as leaders in student media.”

This year’s convention took place in Denver from March 9-12.

December 2015 graduate and Perrysberg, Ohio native Bridget Timbrook placed second for Best PR/Marketing Manager.

Novi senior Jasmine Mims placed second for Best Advertising Manager.

Flushing senior Kelsey Howe placed second for Best Sales Representative.

Grand Rapids senior and account strategist Luke Roguska was elected onto the CMBAM executive board as the student representative. Roguska will help plan next year's conference in Texas.
