University deal with U.S. Office of Personnel Management provides federal employees 15 percent Global Campus tuition break

Federal employees and their family members are now eligible for discounted enrollment in Central Michigan University's online programs and classes taken at satellite locations.

Made possible by a new deal between the university and U.S. Office of Personnel Management, federal employees, their spouses and qualified dependents will receive a 15 percent tuition discount at CMU's 45 Global Campus locations, according to a university statement released Tuesday.

"CMU is proud to partner with the federal government to provide personal and intellectual growth opportunities to 1.8 million federal employees," said Pete Ross in the release, CMU vice provost of academic development.

CMU offered its first online class in 1994. It now offers more than 60 different majors and programs online.

"The agreement the federal government has with CMU will provide access to higher education and help individuals further their careers," said Office of Personnel Management Acting Director Beth F. Cobert. "It will also help to close vital skills gaps that currently exist within the federal government — especially in fields such as engineering management, human resources, cybersecurity and acquisitions."
