Rentschler named MAC West Player of the Week for second time in career
After going 7-for-11 at the plate and driving in five RBI over the weekend, Central Michigan softball senior first basemen Katelyn Rentschler was named the Mid-American Conference West Division's Player of the Week on Monday.
The California native Rentschler sent her team-leading ninth home run over the Mary M. Bell Field fence in DeKalb, Illinois over the weekend as CMU won its final regular season series against MAC West leaders Northern Illinois.
It is the second time she has been named to this honor.
Rentschler has tallied 38 RBI, 47 hits, seven doubles and a .322 batting average this season.
Rentschler and the eighth-seeded Chippewas begin MAC Tournament play on Wednesday at 1 p.m. against top-seeded Kent State at Firestone Stadium in Akron, Ohio.
