Police search for suspects after motorcycles stolen during Welcome Weekend

Two motorcycles were reported stolen Aug. 26 the 900 block of South Main Street.

The motorcycles, belonging to Kyle and Ryan Norton, were a blue 2002 Suzuki DRZ400 and a green 2010 Kawasaki KLX250. Kyle said the motorcycles were last seen at 9 a.m. by his neighbors. The bikes were discovered missing sometime between 1 p.m. and 2 p.m.

Mount Pleasant Police Officer Jeff Browne said there were no suspects. The motorcycles have an estimated value of $8,500. The DRZ400, which had an estimated value of $4,000, was not insured. Browne said evidence was collected near the scene.

The bikes were secured by a lock at a bike rack near their apartment. Kyle said the cable was cut. The lock was not found at the scene of the incident.

The family is offering a cash reward to anyone with information that leads to the recovery of the motorcycles. Gina Norton, the mother of Ryan and Kyle, said the amount would depend on how many tips are received. The Anonymous Tip Line for Mount Pleasant Police Department is 989-779-9111.
