First half by the numbers: UVA 28, CMU 14
Central Michigan football traveled to Virginia looking to go 4-0 for the first time in 31 years, but have fallen behind early. At halftime, the Chippewas trail 28-14.
Virginia opened the game by scoring touchdowns on its first four possessions. Quarterback Kurt Benkert has completed 13-of-21 passes for 156 yards and two touchdowns.
CMU was unable to score until the second quarter when freshman running back Johnathan Ward scored on a one-yard touchdown run. Ward has 26 yards on six carries.
With just more than two minutes remaining in the first half, CMU cut the deficit in half on an 85-yard touchdown connection from Cooper Rush to Corey Willis. It was Willis' fifth touchdown this season, equalling his total from last season.
Senior wide receiver Jesse Kroll left the game with a left-knee injury and will not return.
