Central Michigan University President Neil MacKinnon announced a second round for the Go Grants initiative at the Go Grants Symposium on Feb. 10.
MacKinnon announced the new initiative for CMU faculty, staff and students during his 100-day reflection event last year.
Previous recipients are able to reapply for a Keep Going grant to continue their idea for another year. A new panel will be created to vote on the Keep Going grants and determine their success rate and the impact they had on the community.
“There are no automatics that any of them would get funded automatically, but it will still have a review process,” Joe Garrison, the chief strategy officer at CMU, said.
Applications for both the Go Grants and Keep Going grants will close on March 17.
One group of the recipients produced a song with their grant. Faculty member Will Anderson and CMU student Gabe Schall worked together on the song to be used at CMU events, social media and more.
Junior CMU student Jane Amstutz sang the lyrics for the “Action C” song, and she said the vibes while recording were respectful and professional.
She has been singing for years, but she said she got lucky with being invited to sing the lyrics for the CMU song.
