Two Chippewas earn weekly MAC honors

Following Saturday's 30-27 upset victory against Oklahoma State, the Mid-American Conference awarded two Central Michigan football players weekly honors.

Senior quarterback Cooper Rush was named the MAC West Division's Offensive Player of the Week and junior defensive back Josh Cox was named Defensive Play of the Week.

Rush, a Charlotte native, threw four touchdown passes, including the game-winning Hail Mary pass to senior receiver Jesse Kroll, who lateraled to junior Corey Willis for the touchdown. Rush completed 30-of-42 passes for 361 yards.

Cox recorded seven solo tackles and nine overall. The Warren native snagged one interception in the fourth quarter.

The Chippewas host UNLV at 3 p.m. Saturday at Kelly/Shorts Stadium.
