Class to sell Pistons tickets for project at O'Kelly's
The Sports Sales and Marketing class plans to sell Detroit Pistons tickets, give out prizes and play games at 6:30 p.m. Saturday at O’Kelly’s Sports Bar & Grille.
The event, which is free and open to the public, is part of the Physical Education and Sport 360 class’s group project to sell as many Pistons tickets as possible, 22-year-old senior Dan LePalm said.
The course is a requirement for sport management majors at Central Michigan University. It is taught by professor Steve Adler.
Attendees will have an opportunity to participate in a free raffle, LaPalm said. Prizes include suite seats during a Pistons' home game at the Palace of Auburn Hills, signed Pistons memorabilia and a framed collage of the CMU football team’s thrilling win against Oklahoma State.
Although the kinds of games offered are not cemented, LaPalm said sports trivia will be one of them.
About 15 students are involved in the project. LaPalm said students in the class also reached out to local businesses to sponsor the event at O’Kelly’s. Sports Clips and Jump Station have agreed to be sponsors.
In addition to the event, tickets can be purchased online here. Tickets for 17 different home games from October through December can be purchased at the discounted price.
The event occurs the same evening as the Pistons season opener against the Toronto Raptors. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
