After a well fought second half, Central Michigan fell short to Longwood 5-1 on Saturday.

Longwood led 3-0 at halftime and added two more goals in the second half to put the game out of reach.

CMU's lone goal came from junior middle fielder Carly Brengosz off an assist from junior forward Emily Barber.

After the first goal in in the second half by the Chippewas, head coach Molly Pelowski said the goal moved the team forward.

“We brought it within two and at that point you need your goal keepers to step up to make saves,” she said. “We’ve just been having a little trouble getting the ball in the net."

The loss was the Chippewas' 16th of the season and their 12th in a row. CMU will try to break their losing streak Sunday against Northwestern at home.
