To fundraise and raise awareness for athletes with special needs, Special Olympics Michigan has organized a 5K Homecoming road race on Saturday, Oct. 8.

The race will begin 8 a.m. at Finch Fieldhouse. Participants are advised to arrive at 7 a.m. to set up and finish registration.

Students can register for $35 at www.firstgiving.com/cmu5k/CMU5K2016 which will go toward funding the race. Students also have the opportunity to create a webpage on the site to raise additional funds for special needs athletes.

“You’ll feel amazing about helping out the cause and seeing how happy the athletes are,” said Chris Dyer of Special Olympics Michigan. “It’s a very important cause and having it on campus is beneficial. Overall it’s a great thing to get involved in.”
