Senior forward Samantha Maher has sat out of game action since Central Michigan's historic 1-0 victory against Oakland to begin the season 8-0 for the first time in program history.

The Caledonia native will more than likely return to CMU soccer's lineup Thursday for the first time since Sept. 18.

"I think we are ready to integrate Sam into the lineup," head coach Peter McGahey said. "How much, how far, how fast — we will trust what she says and trust that she's put in a really good rehab. I would expect her to play this weekend."

It is not determined whether she will play to begin the season on Thursday at Toledo or on Sunday at home against Bowling Green. Regardless, the offense hasn't been the same since she has been out.

Since Maher's injury, the team has scored three goals in four games, resulting in a 2-1-1 record. Before her injury, the team was 8-0 with a goal differential of 19-4.

In eight games this season, Maher has one goal — the game-decider against Kansas State — and two assists on 14 shots. Nine of her 14 shots are on goal.

CMU plays at Toledo at 4 p.m. On Thursday.
