First Half by the Numbers: Tulsa 27, CMU 3

At the end of the first half, the Central Michigan football team trails the Tulsa Golden Hurricane 27-3 in the Miami Beach Bowl at Marlins Park.

Tulsa scored the first points of the game on a 5-yard touchdown pass from Dane Evans to Josh Atkinson. The Golden Hurricane marched 96 yards on 17 plays on its first possession.

CMU kicker Brian Eavey has the only CMU points with a 26-yard field goal. Tulsa kicker Redford Jones responded with two field goals of his own (46, 44) to extend the Golden Hurricane lead.

On their final two drives of the half, Evans found Keevan Lucas for a 13-yard touchdown catch in the corner and then Chris Minter from 4 yards out to give the Golden Hurricane a commanding lead.

Senior Cooper Rush has thrown two interceptions thus far. The second pick ended a promising drive that resulted in the Lucas touchdown. Rush tried to find junior Corey Willis in the end zone, but UT's Kerwin Thomas boxed him out and made the play.

Willis appeared to have a touchdown earlier after spinning to make the catch, but failed to complete the process when the Tulsa defender knocked it out at the last secon

The Golden Hurricane became the first team in FBS Divison-1 history with a 3,000 yard passer, two 1,000 yard receivers and two 1,000 yard running backs in the same season.
