Rapid Reaction: Central Michigan 71, Eastern Michigan 48


Earning a Mid-American Conference West Division title, the Central Michigan women's basketball team defeated Eastern Michigan 71-48 to end the regular season.

The Chippewas finished 23-7 overall, 15-3 in the MAC and will head into the MAC Tournament as the No. 1 seed in the conference. CMU also set a school mark with 15 home victories this season.

CMU controlled the game from the tip, opening the first quarter on a 5-0 run and keeping the lead throughout the game.

Senior forward Jewel Cotton led the Chippewas in the first half with eight points, hitting a jumper in the lane to end the half 28-16 in favor of CMU.

CMU forced 5 EMU turnovers before halftime and held the Eagles to 6-of-29 shooting.

Junior forward Tinara Moore and Cotton led the Chippewas in scoring, finishing with 14 points apiece. Sophomore forward Reyna Frost finished with 12 points and led CMU in rebounding with 16 boards.

The Chippewas finished its last home game of the season 43.3 percent in shooting.

CMU has the first-round bye in the MAC Tournament and will open quarterfinal action at noon on Wednesday in Cleveland.
