Central Michigan Gymnastics defeated Rutgers today by a final of 196.375 to 194.975. The 196.375 score was the season high for the Chippewas

Vault

CMU picked up a score of 48.775 on vault to start the meet. The Chippewas were led by senior Rachel Carr’s score of 9.825 which was her season high on vault.

Rutgers started on uneven bars and posted a score of 48.825. After the first events Rutgers had a slight lead 48.825 to 48.775 over the Chippewas.

Uneven Bars

The Chippewas scored a 49.125 on the uneven bars. Sophomore Kasey Janowicz set a career high 9.9 and was the top scorer for the team. Senior Caroline Fitzpatrick also set a career high scoring a 9.875.

Rutgers scored a 48.6 on vault. Going into the second rotation CMU led 97.9 to 97.4.

Balance Beam

The Chippewas came out strong on balance beam posting a season high score of 49.175. Both junior Katy Clements and senior Caroline Fitzpatrick scored a 9.9 on the event. Senior Shaila Segal and sophomore Kasey Janowicz scored a 9.825.

Rutgers scored a 49.025 on floor. Going into the Final rotation CMU moved to floor with the lead 147.075 to 146.425.

Floor Routine

Once again floor was strong for the Chippewas. CMU scored a 49.3 on floor, led by junior Macey Hillikers career best 9.95. CMU also had strong performances by Clements scoring a 9.9 and Janowicz who scored a 9.875 on her first floor routine of the season.

What’s Next

CMU has its final regular season meet next Saturday March 11 at 2 pm. Against Northern Illinois University at McGuirk Arena.
