The city of Mount Pleasant will collect Christmas trees beginning Jan. 2, 2018.

Mount Pleasant residents can drop their Christmas trees by their curb for collection from Jan. 2-5 and Jan. 8-12, 2018, according to a city press release.

The city is asking residents to please place trees curbside by 7 a.m. Jan. 5 or 7 a.m. Jan. 12.

Trees will be collected on weekdays and service is free, according to the city.

According to the press release, trees will only be collected at curbside, which includes areas where normal trash collection is in the alley. The city asks residents to remove plastic bags and tinsel while facing the base of the tree toward the streets.

The remnants of the tree will be processed through a wood chipper. Wreaths will not be collected, the city states, as it cannot be passed through the wood chipper.

Anyone seeking more information can contact the city’s Division of Public Works at (989) 779-5401.
