Men's basketball David DiLeo earns MAC West Player of the Week honors

Central Michigan men’s basketball player David DiLeo was named Mid-American Conference West Player of the Week.

The sophomore forward averaged 18 points and 12 rebounds in wins over University of Missouri - Kansas City and Southern Illinois University of Edwardsville.

On Dec. 19 in a 92-86 overtime victory against the Kangaroos, DiLeo put together a career-high performance, scoring 29 points on six 3-pointers and 7-of-8 made-free-throws while adding 15 rebounds.

The Iowa City, Iowa native then scored seven points while tying for a team-high nine boards in a 70-52 blow out win over SIUE in McGuirk Arena.

The 6-foot-7 forward is averaging 13.1 points per game, joining transfer guard Shawn Roundtree and senior forward Cecil Williams as the only three CMU players to average double figures. He also leads the team in rebounding (7.9 per game) and total steals (15).

The Chippewas (10-2) will look to stay perfect at home (6-0) against Lawrence Tech on Dec. 29 in its final non-conference game before MAC play begins.
