In honor of the longest day of the year, Chippewa Nature Center is hosting their annual "Celebrating the Summer Solstice" event on June 21 at 400 S. Badour Road.

The free and family-friendly event will take place from 7-8:30 p.m.

Chippewa Nature Center is a non-profit organization whose mission is to connect people with nature through educational, recreational and cultural experiences.

The CNC's director of marketing and communications, Jamie Hockstra, said there will be activities for individuals of all ages to enjoy.

"There's a lot of activities, they're entertaining but also educational ways to celebrate the beginning of summer," Hockstra said.

In addition to s’mores around a campfire, activities will include a pollination station, 'Reason for the Seasons' game, summer sensory boxes, a sun catcher craft and insect collecting.
