Central Michigan football to play Penn State in 2022

UPDATE: Central Michigan's game at Penn State will be played on Sept. 24, 2022.
Central Michigan has scheduled a football game against Penn State for the 2022 season.
The contest will be played at Beaver Stadium in University Park, Pennsylvania. According to Tony Paul of The Detroit News, the Chippewas will receive a $1.5 million payout for the game.
The Chippewas have now a sixth upcoming game against a Big Ten Conference opponent, playing Michigan State in 2018, Wisconsin in 2019 and Northwestern and Nebraska in 2020. After a Big Ten break in 2021, CMU rebounds with Penn State in 2022 and Illinois in 2024.
Penn State played its first football season in 1887. The Nittany Lions own an 878-387-42 all-time record while claiming two national championships (1982, 1986), along with five unclaimed national titles (1911, 1912, 1969, 1981, 1994).
In 2017, Penn State went 11-2 (7-2 Big Ten) on the way to a Fiesta Bowl victory over Washington. The only losses on the season came against Ohio State and Michigan State.
