CMU women's basketball moves to 6-4 after Valparaiso win
The Chippewas conclude non-conference play with 50-point win over Valparaiso

The Central Michigan Women’s basketball team (6-4) concluded non-conference play with a dominant 91-41 win over Valparaiso (0-12) on Wednesday evening.
This victory marks the program's first 50-point win since 2010.
Sophomore forward Ayanna-Sarai Darrington had a night, leading the Chippewas with 22 points and shooting 7-10 from the field. She also shot an impressive 100% from the free-throw line, going 8-8.
Sophomore guard Madi Morson followed in points for the Chippewas, charting 15. Freshman guard Rylan Buschell and senior forward Nekhu Mitchell had nine a piece.
Senior guard Taylor Anderson was a force on the boards, picking up 14 rebounds for CMU.
Central Michigan started the game with a six-point run and never looked back, maintaining a strong lead for the remainder of the game. Valparaiso’s struggles were evident early in the matchup, as they went 1-13 from the field in the first quarter.
The Chippewas ended the half with a 25-point lead, then delivered a 46-point blow in the second half to secure the win.
CMU will kick off Mid-American Conference play this weekend against Northern Illinois. Tipoff is at 1 p.m. Saturday at McGuirk Arena.
