'Soup and Substance' to honor Hispanic Heritage Month

The first "Soup and Substance" luncheon of the 2018-19 academic year will kick off next week in celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month at Central Michigan University.

The free event will take place from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 26 in the Bovee University Center Terrace, rooms A-D.

The Office of Diversity Education describes the Soup and Substance series as an opportunity for faculty and students to gather in an informal setting for a presentation and discussion on traditionally under-represented groups by members of the CMU community.

Wednesday's event will feature a presentation of "Life Through the Eyes of the Other: A Conversation On Interracial Marriage."

Sponsored by the Multicultural Academic Services Center, this event is one of many Hispanic Heritage Month events taking place from Sept. 15 to Oct. 15.

All Soup and Substance events are open to the public.

Attendees will be served soup and rolls free of charge.
