Drew Hildebrandt earns MAC Wrestler of the Week
Drew Hildebrandt has been named the Wrestler of the Week in the Mid-American Conference. It is the first time that Hildebrandt has won the honor.
The Central Michigan sophomore earned two victories over Big Ten opponents. Those wins capped a six-match win streak and brought his individual record to 17-7.
Hildebrandt, a Granger, Indiana native, defeated Michigan State's Rayvon Foley 7-5 SV-1 after earning a late escape to tie the match in the third period. He earned a take down in the extra session to take the win. Foley was ranked eighth by The Open Mat and entered that match 29-2.
In the final dual of the season, Hildebrandt dominated Marshall Craig of Purdue. He won a 16-1 technical fall over Craig and it helped get the ball rolling for the CMU 20-15 victory over the Boilermakers.
The Chippewas finished the season at 5-8, 3-4 and head to the MAC Championships March 8-9 at the Ted Constant Convocation Center on the campus of Old Dominion.
