Mount Pleasant Police officers arrested a 21-year-old Central Michigan University student for allegedly possessing counterfeit $50 bills.

Officers made contact with a 23-year-old man at the Blackstone Bar who purchased beer with one of the bills. The man said he received a counterfeit bill from an "acquaintance," Ty Showerman, 21. Officers said once Showerman knew police were investigating the use of the bill, he gave six counterfeit $50 bills to a friend so they would not be in his possession while speaking to police.

Officers recovered nine counterfeit $50 bills at the bar.

Showerman was arrested for possession of counterfeit bills and was taken to the Isabella County Jail.

Showerman was an advertising representative at Central Michigan Life this semester. He has been terminated from his position.
