The new video board on the south end of Kelly/Shorts Stadium lights up the stadium as it undergoes testing June 25.

The new 3200-square-foot LED display in the south end of Kelly/Shorts Stadium underwent testing and calibration.

The board stayed on for 36 consecutive hours to help the bulbs in the display "burn in." Testing began at 9 a.m. June 25 and will be complete 9 p.m. June 26.

The board, provided by Daktronics, is capable of displaying live video and instant replays. It also features a custom audio system with 16 speakers.

The video board is just about complete and will be ready for the Central Michigan football's season opener at 7 p.m. Aug. 29 against Albany.

The next project is tearing down the complex in the north end of the stadium to make way for the Chippewa Champions Alumni Center, which is set to be ready for use in August 2020.
