Mount Pleasant Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Bret Hyble left his position Oct. 18, with Teresa Rupert taking his place as interim president.

Hyble announced his departure in late September after accepting a job with Great Lakes Bay Michigan Works, said Erik Rodriguez, vice chair of the chamber board of directors.

Rupert is serving as interim president until the chamber hires a someone to officially take over.

Rupert joined the chamber in 2013 as an ambassador and was appointed to the board of directors in 2015. She was elected secretary and treasurer in 2017, vice chair in 2018, and she became the chairperson of board of directors in 2019.

During Rupert’s time as interim president, she plans to pick up where Hyble left off. Rodriguez said she will participate in chamber events like breakfast events and an upcoming business expo in November.

“While our search is underway and we look for someone to fill that role for president, we just hope (Rupert) can assume the responsibilities that the former president Hyble left vacant,” Rodriguez said.

Rodriguez said he isn’t sure how long the president search will last.
