The Bird Bar & Grill will be running their annual The Bird Auction to raise money for Isabella County Child Advocacy Center.

The auction will take place from 4 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 9 at The Bird. Lois Breidenstein, owner of The Bird, said the auction has been happening annually since 1984 and changes where the money raised will go every year. This year, proceeds will go to the Advocacy Center.

The Isabella County Child Advocacy Center helps children who are mentally, physically or sexually abused and needs money to keep existing, Breidenstein said.

It began as an event to raise money for local residents in need but eventually started raising money for organizations. Some past organizations and groups The Bird raised money for are the Isabella Community Soup Kitchen, Red Cross and Isabella County Commission On Aging.

Some of the items The Bird has auctioned off in the past are TV’s, dirt bikes, Apple Watches, jewelry and oil paintings. She said both customers and local business owners make donations to the auction. Breidenstein said the auction typically brings in $10,000 – $15,000 and is usually at capacity during the event.
