Legends of the Dark

The Annual Legends of the Dark came back to CMU's campus for its 28th year on Oct. 28. The tour explores the many urban legends that are on CMU's campus after the sun sets. The legends are portrayed by scare actors who are volunteers. 

CMU VS Bowling Green

Central Michigan's volleyball team beat Bowling Green 3-2, Friday, Oct. 27, in McGuirk Arena. CMU had a total of 52 kills. CMU sophomore outside hitter Lauren Schrock recorded the most kills with 18 kills. Sophomore setter Claire Ammeraal led with 39 assists and junior opposite Krystina Kasson led the way with four blocks.

Educating Equity

The Office of Educator Preparation Programs hosts an Educating for Equity Series open to all future teachers, Friday, Oct. 27, in the Education and Human Services building. Students had the opportunity to discuss and share their thoughts on the concept equity in an educational setting.  

Speaker: Catherine Cangany

Clarke Historical Library hosts Catherine Cangany, Executive Director of the Jewish Historical Society of Michigan to speak as part of their speaker series Thursday, Oct. 26 in Opperman Auditorium. Cangany spoke about how the rising prices of kosher meat in Detroit sparked a boycott organized by Jewish women in 1910. 

Religion Program Halloween

CMU's Department of Philosophy, Anthropology and Religion hosts the Religion Program's 10th Annual Halloween Event Wednesday, Oct. 25 in Opperman Auditorium. Professors Guy Newland, Ari Berk, Matthew Katz and Kelly Murphy each shared short stories and talks on various Halloween related topics. Dr. Laurel Zwissler hosted the event and said its goal is to show that the academic study of religion is interesting and relevant. 

Sustainability Walking Tour

Central Sustainability hosts a sustainability walking tour Wednesday, Oct. 25 across the campus of Central Michigan University starting at the Bovee University Center. This was a tour to teach people about sustainability around campus and was the last event of Campus Sustainability Month.  

CMU Field Hockey Vs Michigan

Central Michigan Field Hockey team lost their final home game of the season to the University of Michigan at the Pink Out game, Sunday, Oct. 22, in Cristy Freese Field. CMU senior goalkeeper Katie Maxim had a total of five saves in the game and freshman back Klara Mikulaskova had one defensive save. The final score was 0-11. 

Soccer Vs Northern Illinois

Central Michigan's women's soccer team fell to Northern Illinois 1-0 Sunday, Oct. 22 in the CMU Soccer Complex. Redshirt junior goalkeeper Allison LaPoint led CMU with five saves. The loss brings CMU's record to 1-6-3 in MAC conference play and 2-7-6 overall. 

Volleyball VS Northern Illinois

Central Michigan's volleyball team beat Northern Illinois 3-0, Friday, Oct. 20 in McGuirk Arena. Junior opposite/outside hitter Linnea Willer was player of the game. The win brings the team's record to 3-7 in conference play and 9-13 overall. 

Purpose in Pink

L.e.g.a.C hosts its second event, Purpose in Pink, to discuss the power of finding one's purpose and walking through life by doing icebreakers and group discussions, Wednesday, Oct. 18, in Anspach Hall 161. In honor of October being Breast Cancer Awareness Month, attendees were encouraged to wear pink.

Homecoming Rock Rally

During homecoming week, Warriner Hall holds its annual Rock Rally, the event had 12 groups performing in the Plachta Auditorium in front of many students and other spectators, Friday, Oct. 13, Plachta Auditorium. Rock Rally allows student organizations such as Infusion Dance Team and Residential Halls who are competing against each other.

Field Hockey VS Ohio University

The CMU field hockey team fell to Ohio University (5-0) during their final home MAC game, Friday, Oct. 13, at Cristy Freese Field. The CMU Chippewas have two more upcoming games against Miami (Ohio) and the Wolverines.   

Homecoming Parade

The annual CMU Homecoming Parade united students, alumni, staff, faculty and the Mount Pleasant community on the final day of homecoming, Saturday, Oct. 14, Mount Pleasant. The Homecoming Parade started on CMU's campus and ended in downtown Mount Pleasant, the parade featured many student organizations, community organizations, guests of honor and the marching band. 

Homecoming Football Game VS Akron

Central Michigan's football team beat Akron 17-10 on homecoming, Saturday, Oct. 14 at Kelly/Shorts Stadium. Redshirt sophomore quarterback Jase Bauer and junior running back Myles Bailey scored touchdowns for CMU. Redshirt junior Tristan Mattson also scored a 58 yard field goal, breaking the records for CMU's longest field goal and the longest field goal at Kelly/Shorts Stadium. The win brings CMU to 2-1 in MAC conference play and 4-3 overall.

PRINT-A-THON

Art and Design Professor Johanna Paas hosted the Art and Design PRINT-A-THON, Thursday, Oct. 12, in Wightman 148. CMU students and Alumni could design, carve, print, make collages, enjoy snacks, and trade prints with other artists. 

Homecoming: Battleship

CMU Office of Student Activities and Involvement hosts Battleship as part of Homecoming Week events Thursday, Oct. 12 at the Student Activity Center Pool. Teams used buckets to toss water into their opponents' boats with the goal of sinking them. Team Borpe won the tournament, who consisted of Beddow Hall and Thorpe Hall.

Homecoming Cornhole

Central Michigan University continues the festivities for homecoming week by hosting a cornhole tournament, Thursday, Oct. 12 in the Student Activity Center on campus. CMU students from residential halls and across campus teamed up and played against other students and residential communities for the title of the top team.
