Rants & Raves

Rants and Raves out of an idiot's mouth on this Wednesday morning:

My hat is off to the CMU men's basketball team that finishes its season tonight. With the core of this team being freshmen, this exciting squad has many great years in its future. Mike Manciel gets my vote as Mid-American Conference Freshman of the Year.

A special thanks to coach Jay Smith who has allowed us all to forget the Leonard Drake regime.

Rodman has finally decided he is going to sign with the Lakers, a destination we were expecting for a couple of weeks now. Rodman actually cried during his press conference when a reporter asked if he was being selfish by not signing sooner.

In my opinion, Rodman is a selfish loser who deserves no respect. He is a great basketball player but obviously that was not enough. Instead he has to transform himself into a freak who demands as much attention as Kate Moss at an Overeaters Anonymous convention.

Rodman's act is wearing thin and the shock value has disappeared. He should just shut his mouth and play basketball. Never mind the fact that the only reason Rodman is playing this year is because his shoe contract requires him to play in 30 games in order to receive his $3 million bonus.

I guarantee he will not make the Lakers winners. Nobody could turn that team of showboaters into NBA champions.

The trade that sent Roger Clemens to the Yankees and David Wells to the Blue Jays typifies everything that is wrong with baseball. The rich just get richer and the bottom line is who can spend the most money. Although we had to suffer through a lockout the NBA implemented a plan in which all teams can stay competitive and baseball should follow suit.

Also for everybody who complains about loyalty of players in today's sports, this trade is why loyalty is now non-existent. Wells chose the Yankees because that is his hometown team and he loved the area. He then proceeded to help them win a championship only to be traded the next year.

This brings me to my next point which is the amount of crying that has been evident in the sporting world as of late. Some examples are Rodman crying at his press conference, Wells weeping after being traded and finally Tom Izzo blubbering like an idiot after MSU captured the Big Ten title.

I wish these individuals would suck it up and act like men. The sporting world is no place for crying. If I wanted an outpouring of emotion like that I would watch an episode of "The View."

I have a feeling that MSU is going to fall flat on its face during the NCAA Tournament. I cannot see them getting past the Sweet 16.

People need to realize that the Big 10 is not that impressive of a conference. It is a deep conference, but not necessarily a great one. They have a bunch of barely above average teams that win enough to have a reasonable ranking. I bet no more than two teams from the Big Ten make it past the first round of the NCAA tournament.

I petition that the next idiotic NBA broadcaster that makes a pun out of Karl Malone's nickname be put to sleep. Only so many times can an individual put up with the phrase "the mailman is delivering tonight" or "the mailman does not deliver on Sundays."
