Rants & Raves

Rants and raves out of an idiot's mouth this Wednesday morning:

How low has the sport of boxing fallen? After most of the American public had lost its appetite for the sport after the Tyson-Holyfield debacle, things got even worse last weekend.

Lennox Lewis beat Evander Holyfield like a rented mule all over the ring yet when it was all said and done the judges decided it was a draw.

First of all this reeks of Don King, and for you scoring at home, that does not smell real good.

Obviously King paid off the judges so a rematch would be ordered and everybody could make money again. Boxing is just like professional wrestling, but at least wrestling markets itself as fake.

My second comment is about the supposed "good guy" in boxing, Holyfield. As he was interviewed after the fight he would not admit that he should have lost even though his face looked like Bison Dele's after 12 rounds with Richard Simmons. Just step up to plate and be honest Holyfield. God would want that.

Finally, the true loser in this ordeal is Lewis, who should be the unified champion. Abraham Lincoln had better luck when he picked up his tickets to the play.

Is anybody else sick of hearing about the city of Flint? That is great that all the MSU basketball players come from that fine city but enough already.

I would rather pass a "Flintstone" than have to hear any more hype about that city.

Even though I was born in Michigan sometimes when I first meet a person I say that I was born on the Bayou. I do not like lying but it makes for some good conversation.

Why does ESPN need to broadcast "Baseball Tonight" in the beginning of March? Does it really matter how many homeruns Mark McGwire hits in the preseason?

Most of the American public does not care about about baseball during the regular season so why would they care about the preseason. Watching a highlight of B.J. Surhoff getting hit by a pitch to force in the winning run of the Orioles first intersquad game of the year is just like a bad case of hemmorroids: Just plain painful.

I am enjoying all the upsets of this NCAA tournament. I want to see a final four including Gonzaga, South West Missouri State, Miami (OH), and Ohio State.

Speaking of March Madness I was impressed with the University of Detroit and its victory over UCLA. I think it is time for Perry Watson and his Titans to jump to a bigger conference. The MCC just does not do it for them anymore. I think it is time for the Titans to join the Mid-American Conference. The MAC is a league on the rise and could provide some competition.

How long did it take Dennis Rodman to go off the deep end? He told the Lakers he had personal problems then fled for Las Vegas. I am sure a couple days in Vegas will fix his problems and refocus him for the rest of the season.

Speaking of the Lakers I would not mind seeing Kurt Rambis becoming a player-coach.

Rambis looks as if he is a change of glasses away from being able to come back and reclaim his role as the greatest rebounder in the game.
