Praising with power

Benton Harbor sophomore Michelle Brooks did not know what to expect when she went to the Bovee University Center Saturday night.

She said she left Divine Order gospel choir’s college night in the UC Rotunda feeling great.

“I think it was a life-changing experience...people were touched,” Brooks said.

More than 120 people attended the event, which included performances from Michigan State University’s gospel choir and Ferris State University’s gospel choir.

Detroit junior Sam Prater was the master of ceremonies for the event, which featured songs from a praise team composed of 10 Divine Order members.

“Let’s Dance” was one of six songs performed by Divine Order, and it created a stir.

Several audience members jumped out of their seats, clapping and singing joyously during the performance.

FSU’s choir members sang two songs, while MSU led three.

Dance groups Fire and Victorious Vessels of Praise also entertained the audience with their expressions of worship and praise.

“People should have walked away from this event delivered and set free,” said Brandon D. Davis, Southfield sophomore.

Davis directs the 40-member Divine Order.

Illinois sophomore Andre Moore culminated the event by leading an altar call.

“Be an individual and know that God is able to change a situation and he loves you,” he said.
