Raunchy in rose
April Fools got raunchy for students who attended Dave Attell and Pauly Shore’s “Grow Up Already” comedy show Saturday night in Rose Arena.
Shore, known mostly for his comedic movies in the 1990s, took the stage first.
He said he had an interesting experience while exercising at the Student Activity Center earlier in the day.
“Some girl came up to me and was like, ‘Oh my God! Are you a cop?’” Shore said. “I said, ‘No baby, I’m the weasel.’”
Shore spoke about sex and drug use.
“The only time I take ecstasy is at a family reunion,” he said.
Shore told the crowd of more than 2,000 they can never quit drinking.
“Guys always think they’re going to get laid (when they drink),” he said. “But then by the end of the night it’s like, ‘Welcome to Burger King, may I take your order?’”
Shore said while girls always stay together, “guys will leave their friend at the bar if they think they’re going to get laid.”
Comedian Dave Attell, known for his Comedy Central show “Insomniac,” took the stage after Shore.
After a female audience member threw her underwear on stage, Attell began poking fun of Central Michigan University’s location.
“We are in the middle of the state right now, it’s crazy,” he said. “You really have no choice but to drink don’t you?”
Attell compared the productiveness of potheads versus alcoholics.
“You potheads aren’t out there making it happen like us alcoholics,” he said. “Things have been invented because of alcohol. The tazer, the morning after pill, Judge Judy. What has pot given us? Hacky sack?”
Attell frequently discussed one of his favorite drinks, Jagermeister.
“You’ll always have a lady. Her name is Jagermeister,” he said. “It’s ironic and frightening at the same time. It’s a lot like scientology.”
After making fun of several members in the crowd – particularly a man named Joe – Attell invited Shore back on stage.
The two spoke with each other and answered audience questions.
Attell finished up by asking students to tell him what their favorite drinks were and how their nights would end after consumption.
“Busch? You’re going to drive around with your buddies and laugh till somebody farts,” he said. “Then, you’re going to laugh more.”
Woodhaven sophomore Mike Ash said he expected the crude subject from both performers.
“They nailed the student population who went there to see those types of comedians,” he said. “It was a laugh a minute.”
Mount Pleasant sophomore Matt Gepford said he enjoyed the show and was surprised to see many open seats in Rose Arena.
“It was one of the better comedy shows I’ve seen at Central,” he said. “ I thought there would be a lot more people.”
